Dr Grahams Homes Kalimpong
Dr. Graham’s Homes in Kalimpong offers a unique opportunity for individuals and organizations to support the education and well-being of underprivileged children through sponsorship programs. By becoming a sponsor, you can make a significant impact on the lives of these children, providing them with access to quality education, healthcare, and a nurturing environment.
The Homes follows the curriculum prescribed by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, offering both the I.C.S.E. and I.S.C. levels.
The division of streams – Science, Commerce and Humanities – takes place at the IXth standard, according to each child’s individual preference, aptitude, capability and talent.
Dr. Graham’s Homes Sponsorship Scheme is a unique instrument that empowers you to transform the future of young hearts and minds. Sponsorship creates a special relationship between you and a child you probably have never met before. Dr. Graham’s Homes offers you a chance to provide a ‘sense of security’ and ‘a sense of belonging’ to a child, and in return you will get the satisfaction of having invested in a better future for a child and for society. The Homes offers sponsorships at two levels:
- School Sponsorship Scheme
- Extended Sponsorship Scheme
- The school sponsorship scheme was established to provide opportunities for poor Anglo-Indian children, the very children Dr. Graham set out to help when he established the Homes in 1900. Over the years the scheme has helped create successful futures for hundreds of Indian children.
- Sponsor a child through school (i.e. from Lucia King to class XII).
- Children belong to families from diverse social and cultural backgrounds, from families whose monthly income is between Rs. 500 to Rs. 3000.
- Over the years, these sponsorships have been supported by The Overseas Committees, Alumnus of the Homes and many well wishers.

The Extended Sponsorship Scheme was established as an instrument to provide supplementary support to children who wish to pursue further studies or vocational training. It is applicable only for those sponsored students who have completed their schooling from Dr. Graham’s Homes.
You need not have sponsored a child at school to sponsor them at college nor do you need to sponsor the same child at school and college. You may also simultaneously sponsor a child at school and college.
This Sponsorship Scheme was initiated in 2003 and has been able to provide financial and psychological support to hundreds of children. Most of the students enrol in courses in Kolkata based colleges. An Extended sponsorship includes the cost of a child’s college education for the duration of the course/subject selected and the accomodation/hostel fees.
Write to the following address stating the approximate age and sex of the child you would like to sponsor. Ask for more information if you wish. You will be sent case histories of the candidates for sponsorship. You can select a child from a list provided to you.
- Details of your sponsored child and a photograph.
- An Annual Progress Report.
- Regular correspondence – keeping you apprised of your sponsored child’s activities and helping to create a bond of love.
- The opportunity to visit your sponsored child at the Dr. Graham’s Homes. Most of the children refer to their sponsors as ‘aunty’ and ‘uncle’ and visits help to build a personal bond with him/her.
- The feeling of joy that comes from caring and sharing.
